Time offline

by Lilia Efimova on May 28, 2006

I’m back – unpacking, cleaning the house from post-wedding mess left behind, sorting through countless photos, triaging emails and learning to say “ja” instead of “si”. Feels strange to get connected again…

For the first few days – travelling between wedding parties in Russia and the Netherlands – I was online once in a while, but since we left for our honeymoon in Cuba it was pretty much offline. I didn’t take any gadgets with me (except of a travel iron :) and enjoyed it a lot. Somehow, despite of an occasional thought of sharing photos and experiences real-time (like what Lee and Sachi do for their globe-circling journey), I needed to unplug and to go into heavy experiencing mode without knowing too much of what’s going on in the rest of the world. It worked well.

I hope one day I learn to unplug without leaving home without gadgets :)
